Hmmmm Apple announces to switch to Intel P4 cpu's. This makes me think 2 things. 1st which is how long is the life of P4 cpu's? Hopefully not too long. 2nd which is is apple going to bring a OSx for PC users? This move would mean pretty much the end of the apple hardware business, but then its pretty much already the end. What do we have? A computer running pretty much p4 specific components with apple branded on it. That is a PC to me.
The cpu is the heart of the computer and dictates the rest of the parts in the system. Knowing this apples software would greatly florish if they did this. I mean basically atm to push one piece of osx you'd have to sell the customer a $2000+ computer before they can use it. But if they did it this way all the supporting equipment problem will be already solved. I mean everyone has a PC. When you can't beat then, join them.
Hardware for Apple will fall but seeing though what they are mainly making money out of atm "ipod" this wont matter. Will this be the future?

Ya but still the talk is filled with irony. Just a few month ago they have this nice chart displaying how the g5 absolutely kills the intel processors :p. Also a g5 which is an established 64bit platform and skipping that platform and going back down to p4 and intels starting attempt at 64bit just sounds weird. Maybe customers are not buying into the 64bit thingi.
